Punjab number plate rules in 2026: approved format, sizes and private plate makers
The approved Punjab number plate format, sizes and rules in 2026, and what private plate makers can and cannot do.
What this guide will cover
This guide covers Punjab number plate rules in full: the official process step by step, the documents you need before you start, the fees and taxes involved — with a clear note on every figure that must be confirmed on the official Excise portal before paying — and the mistakes that most often delay the job.
It is being published in the current five-day rollout of MTMIS Punjab guides. Until it lands, the complete verification guide below covers the record check that starts almost every vehicle task in Punjab.
