Punjab premium number e-auction registration closes on October 31, 2026

Motorists in Punjab who want a preferred registration number for a motorcycle, car or commercial vehicle have until October 31, 2026 to register for the October round of the province’s online premium number auction. Registration is completed through the official e-Auction application and web portal, and no visit to an Excise office is required.

What happened

The Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, working with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), opened online registration for the October 2026 auction of premium vehicle registration numbers in early October. The auction covers three vehicle categories: motorcycles, motorcars and commercial vehicles. Applicants register online, select an available registration number and place bids through the e-Auction app or web portal.

The system is the same one used for the September auction, which also covered motorcycles, motorcars and commercial vehicles. The October round continues the province’s shift to a fully digital allocation process for attractive registration marks, replacing the need for in-person applications at Excise offices.

How the e-auction works

Under the Punjab Excise Department’s published policy, attractive registration marks are allotted through a web and mobile application-based auction system, with minimum reserve prices set by number type. Availability of specific numbers is published on the platform before each auction round, and information about successful bidders is also made available through the application.

PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the platform gives citizens a secure, convenient and transparent way to take part in the auction of vehicle registration numbers. According to PITB, moving the process online improves efficiency, speeds up service delivery and makes government services more accessible, particularly for applicants who cannot easily travel to an Excise office. Overseas Pakistanis are also listed as eligible to participate through the platform.

What it means for vehicle owners

For owners registering a new car or motorcycle, the October auction is a chance to secure a preferred or distinctive number through the official system rather than through informal intermediaries. Because the allotment is published and bid-based, applicants can see which numbers are available and what the process requires before committing.

Owners should still complete the basics before bidding. Before paying for any vehicle, verify its record through the MTMIS Punjab vehicle verification guide, which shows the registered owner and token tax status. After a successful bid and registration, the vehicle still needs its standard documentation, including the smart registration card covered in the vehicle registration and smart card guide.

Applicants who miss the October 31 deadline should follow the auction schedule published through Punjab Excise and the e-Auction platform for the next round, rather than paying an agent for a number outside the official system.
